Haflong- Switzerland of the Northeast India.

Amongst some stunning place to visit in Assam, Haflong is known as the Switzerland  of the Northeast India. 

As you start your journey from Guwahati to Haflong that covers 310 km ,  the roads  are likley to make you dizzy but as soon as you cross Lanka  which is 177.5km away from Guwahati, the journey start’s right there when you go round and round  and climb towards the hill station which is situated at an altitude of 680m above sea level. You will realise that this hill station in Assam is tremendously gifted and adds to the tranquil beauty of nature in the state. The weather suddenly turns cooler and the winding roads surrounded by unexplored hills gives you a perfect summer retreats for those who wish to enjoy nature at it’s very best.

Haflong is among lesser explored hill station that is still free from commercialisation and gives you a reason to visit chase the offbeat. If you go by train you will encounter many rail tunnels that takes you to the other side of the hill and it is breathtaking experience but some people might get anxious to pass through dark, long and narrow space.

Jatinga located in Dima Hasao district that is 5.4km from Haflong is one of the famous tourist spot popular for its majestic views and the mysterious phenomenon of birds committing suicide. There is no specific sightseeing in this hill station but once you reach there, you feel you just want to enjoy the flora fauna than indulge in other activities. 

However, if you want to trek and enjoy the scenic landscape  then the Sielkal peak about 46km away from Haflong is worth a trip. The bus takes you there and then you take a trek if you want to go higher up and spot fantastic view. A warm cup of coffee in the wild make you indulge in a heavenly experience as you enjoy the breezy cool weather.Haflong is popular among campers and nature enthusiasts and is visited primarily for the adventure activities.

Haflong main market is located in the heart of Haflong town where all the vendors from village area and other areas comes to sell different kinds of vegetables and fruits. Accommodation options are limited in Haflong and range from budget to medium range hotels along with Assam Tourism’s Tourist Lodge is available.

If you want to enjoy your vacation far from urban chaos and home to dense forest which are marked by walking trails and scenic verdant valleys, Haflong hill station have spectacular landscapes and a salubrious climate throughout the year.
