The state of Assam has always attracted tourists across the country and beyond, for this region
is blessed with the best of natural resources. Northeast, at large, has an abundance of natural
resources that add to the identity of this region in India.
Chaygaon is approximately fifty kilometers from the state capital. It is considered as a rural
region in reference to the modern developing cities in Assam. Chaygaon has a distinct identity
out of the contributions of indigenous ones who represent the region.
One of the most significant developmental initiatives taken by the government over the recent
years is the Industrial Growth Centre at Chaygaon-Patgaon-Jambari area.
Across a center area of 53.15 Ha, this is the Third Growth Centre Project being set up at the
outskirts of the Guwahati City. It is being set up by the government at an excellent split location
at Chaygaon-Patgaon-Jambari premises (split location growth center). This is certainly laudable.
According to the official website of industries and commerce, this growth center will have an
excellent approach road, internal roads, dedicated power line, adequate water supply,
communication facilities and central effluent treatment plants. Besides the center would be
having facilities such as a bank, post office, fire station, and more.
Meanwhile, anti-social elements have tried to hinder the progress of Chaygaon from time to
time. Kamrup Police has put in the best of efforts to ensure that these locals in and around
Chaygaon remain secure.
"Acting on a tip-off, Kamrup Police led by OC Chaygaon PS along with staff recovered 14 nos.
of plastic vials containing suspected to be Heroin weighing 28.8 gms from Goroimari near Petrol
pump. One person is apprehended. Further legal action is being taken.", reads a tweet by
Kamrup Police on 18th November 2022.
"An EGPD team from Basistha PS intercepted a truck - loaded with 62 bags amounting to 3534
kgs Burmese arecanut. One Mithun Kalita of Goroimari, Chaygaon was apprehended. Further
probe is on.", reads another tweet by Guwahati Police on the evening of 16th November this
year.
Let us take into consideration the harmony and brotherhood fostered by the locals of Chaygaon.
People are peace-loving. I come from Chaygaon and therefore, am aware of the societal
harmony that exists in the area.
One may visit Chaygaon to explore the natural beauty of the area, Maa Chandika Mandir,
Merghar; and further invite friends and relatives to experience the same. The concerned
authority to the state and central governments may please add efforts to explore the possibility
of Assam Tourism thereby bringing in tourists to Chaygaon perhaps in the days to come.
