The name of the Nellie place may not only be for the people of Assam but also among the world, the name of this small place of Assam is more or less known to everyone. On February 18, 1983, nearly four decades after the horrific incident of genocide that shook the entire country in Nellie in the then undivided Nagaon district, the Assamese film Nellie's story about this incident. The film, which premiered at the Kolkata National Film Festival on December 8, is currently running in various theatres in Assam.
'The nellie story' is directed, story, screenplay and dialogues by Parthjeet Barua. Pranjal Kumar Mahanta has given the supporting dialogues of the film, produced by him under the banner of Sunlist Studios. Neil Burman is the principal assistant director of the film. Suman Duvara has photographed the film. Edited by Hirak Jyoti Pathak, Sound Design and Mixing by Debjit Gayan, Color Grading Rajesh Yadav as well as music by Daniel Ingti.
Titled "the nellie story", the film stars Arghdeep Barua, Swagata Bharali, Royanti Rabha, Dhananjay Debnath, Mahendra Das, Sudarshan Nath, Sapnoti Bordoloi, Dr. Asha Axari Chowdhury, Mukut Chandra Bhuiyan, Sunaina Dutta, Samar Jyoti Sarkar, Mintu Barua, Vaishnavi Bora, Sanjivani Bora, Etc. Parashar, Puniram Saikia, Lakshya Jyoti Saikia and Rupam Saikia etc.
