As a 3rd-semester student at Gauhati University’s Department of Communication and Journalism, I, Ajay Sarkar, am truly honored to share a remarkable experience from the recent National Press Day celebration organized by the Press Council of India.
It was an ab’olute privilege to be among the few students invited to this prestigious event, where I had the incredible opportunity to interact with Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Honourable Vice President of India. The presence of esteemed dignitaries such as Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, L Murgan, Minister of State of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Shree Amitabh Kant, Sherpa G20, and Smt. Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, Chairperson, PCI, added immense value to the occasion.
Reflecting on our department’s journey, it’s awe-inspiring to recognize that Gauhati University pioneered media education in India’s North East as far back as 1967.
I am proud to be part of a department that values quality education and has produced students who not only participate in prestigious events like National Press Day but also engage with eminent personalities in the field. This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our faculty and the supportive environment at Gauhati University’s Department of Communication and Journalism.
In closing, I express my gratitude for the opportunities provided by this esteemed department and look forward to contributing to its legacy as we continue to excel in the field of media and journalism.
