An experience of the Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival

The second day of the three-day program of Pragjyotishpur Literature Festival, theme- "Extension of Assamese Language and Literature and Journalism" was attended by about 20 students from the Department of Communication and Journalism, Gauhati University. The event was attended by Dilip Chandan (Former Editor, Dainik Assam), Bedbrat Deb Mishra (Senior Journalist), Nav Thakuria (Free Journalist), Bidyut Kumar Bhuyan (Senior Journalist) as distinguished guests. All the guests gave us various lectures on the correct form, correct presentation and proper expansion of Assamese language and literature, how we can promote our pride Assamese language without any obstacles, and a beautiful seminar was held to find solutions to various problems. Therefore, it is important to understand the importance of language. Of course, we only discuss the mistakes of language. On the contrary, if we can study language correctly, then we can pave the way for showing respect for our own language. He also said that the negligence of the present journalists and the limited study of the words, negligence in the presentation of words, the use of words from other languages instead of the correct assamese words have caused problems to the readers at various times. We are all aware that many English words currently used in Assamese dictionaries are difficult or not available in Assamese form, so we have to take the advice of an expert on the subject seriously. Therefore, it is important to understand the importance of these issues. He mentions that no sub-language can be ridiculed, all sub-languages have their own uniqueness. Therefore, the main objective of this program was to make the younger generation committed to their language and to present the language properly. As a younger generation, such seminars encourage us and give us the opportunity to become aware of the Assamese language and literature.
